Internet Donations
We would just like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone donating via our website as often their full address details are not provided. We always try, where possible, to thank everyone personally for their donations and for supporting British wildlife.
With great sadness!
It is with much regret that June Gibbs cannot continue operating the HART hospital from Dellands. It has been extremely difficult for her to cope with the increasing numbers of casualties over the past few years, but there are many reasons for this decision. The most important is that her elderly mother is becoming increasingly frail and she needs both time and energy to care for her.
The HART hospital is now closed to all new admissions and those creatures currently being cared for will be released as soon as practically possible. The press will soon be informed as well as local vets, the RSPCA and other wildlife charities which will hopefully be able to offer some help until we can resume operations from an alternative site.
The trustees have had a meeting to discuss the future. They're intention is to continue to raise funds for the new wildlife hospital and study centre, particularly through the Alton shop and the web site. We will also continue with HART's other important activities such as offering advice and information on wildlife care through our web site and by visiting schools and other organisations. You will be kept informed of progress through our web site so please check back regularly and we would appreciate your ongoing support.
Since the announcement there has been a tremendous response from the media and we have included a few links for your interest:

HART hits Alton!
A huge thank you to Alison Keeble, Jane Rebut and Peter Mart for all their hard work in preparing our new shop for its grand opening on Saturday 2nd February. We would also like to thank Delta Radio for advertising our opening ensuring we had a steady flow of customers throughout the day. An in depth account of our first day is available within our In Focus section and don't forget we are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to help run our new charity shop in Alton. If you have one or more mornings/afternoons available each week then please email us your details at help@hartwildlife.fsnet.co.uk or telephone on 01256 770438
Ringly Rhymes CD
This wonderful poetry CD, read and written by Terry Hopwood-Jackson and Chrystal Gray, is about woodland animals and fairies complete with bird song and wind chimes for only £5.99 (including post and packaging). The authors have agreed to donate a percentage of sales to HART Wildlife so help support us by emailing hopart@tiscali.co.uk for further information or to order.

There is a great deal of misinformation about foxes in the press and trying to get the facts into the media has proved extremely problematic. Professor Stephen Harris and his team at Bristol University Mammal Group have launched a new website to provide accurate and detailed information with regards to published data on foxes. Please visit www.thefoxwebsite.org for the real facts about foxes.
